About Jon

Jon Altmann is a Phoenix native and Arizona State University graduate.

 

In 1974, his first advocacy effort was to help neighbors lobby for and get improved fire and emergency medical protection for his part of Phoenix. More than 30 years later, he has consistently worked for our neighborhood and quality of life.

 

Leadership defines Jon Altmann's career. He has led neighborhood efforts in the Valley and has served on two city-council appointed committees, chairing one.

 

He has been a national corporate marketing executive of an Arizona-based national company and also served as its national relations director. For the past several years, he has owned and operated a national public safety consulting service, providing professional evaluations and guidance local governments on fire, emergency medical services and homeland security related matters. His expertise includes strategic planning, budgeting and development of public/private partnerships.

 

Jon was a Senior Enlisted Leader in Navy Reserve Intelligence on the national command staff protecting our nation in the Global War on Terrorism, having served 22 years. He retired as a Senior Chief Intelligence Specialist from the national command staff in Navy intelligence, serving in senior staff position. He was twice decorated for leadership.

 

He is active in veterans' organizations and has served two terms on a national board of directors of one as its chief financial officer.

 

Published nationally since 1975, Jon is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists. He begin his journalism trade as a daily news reporter in 1973 with the Phoenix Gazette and has edited two public-safety trade journals and been published in several other journals and newspapers over the past three decades.

 

Jon is also active in various church, community and volunteer leadership positions. This includes his parish council and being active with neighborhood groups. He has chaired two different multi-neighborhood grass roots organizations, one of which that he helped found in 1988 and still continues today.
